麥奀雲吞麵世家 - Mak's Noodle

Binnie was the one who told me about Mak's Noodle ( 麥奀雲吞麵世家) many years ago. I didn't get to try this famous wanton noodles until last sunday.

There was an article outside of this restaurant. It had a picture of Anthony Bourdain. I figured that he has eaten the noodles here before. Naturally, I was excited to try.

I was shocked when the waiter came with a small rice bowl. That was my order of wanton noodles. Everything was in that small bowl - noodles, wanton and soup! Erm... was that a kid's size meal? Can I upsize? Gosh! That was the smallest bowl of wanton mee ever served.

But I must say that the soup base is quite "shiok". The taste and smell of shrimps were strong. They didn't stinge on the ingredients alright. :) Perhaps, they could increase the portion just a little more, that would have been great!

小肥牛火鍋活魚專門店 - Xiao Fei Nui in Wan Chai

Reggie introduced me to Leada, a fellow international foodie, when we were in Bangkok earlier this year. Leada is from Hong Kong. So, before I flew to HK for my weekend getaway, I dropped her an email to ask this foodie where I should be eating at.

In her email, she recommended a few places. I saw one near my hotel and with an interesting name like Little Fat Cow (小肥牛), how can I miss this!?! Haha! So, I paid Little Fat Cow a visit. And boy oh boy! This was some awesome stuff. Reggie & friends, this would be a double B rating (the BOMB!).

It's so awesome! The food was so fresh, the shell fish (dipped in wasabi and shoyu) & prawn sashimi (dipped in sweet thai chilli) was fantastic!!! The quality of the food was above average. Don't think I can find any of such stuff in Singapore.

The hotpot from this place is also soooo awesome. They actually used japanese bi-coloured corn which were soooo damn sweet!!! The crab was small but sooo tasty. I could just go on and on about this place and best of all, it's reasonably priced.

Let the pictures speak for itself!

Hotpot filled with crab, veg and meat.

The man with the chinese wine and flame! When he flamed the hotpot, it smelt soooo good!

Prawns sashimi with Thai sweet chilli. Ooh lala!

This shellfish is sliced very thinly but it's sooo crunchy!

More sashimi!

And that plate of gigantic oysters!!! So much bigger than the soup spoon!

Believe or not?! There was this Asahi promotion when we were there.
3 big bottle of Asahi for HKD 2o (S$4 only)
Ridiculous yah?!

Bill for the night... yeap, we had alot of food!
But it was soooo good!

Weekend Getaway!

Back from an awesome weekend trip of eating, shopping, eating and more shopping. Had some fantastic purchases from Callaway, Calvin Kleins and BCBG. But now, it's time for me to rest. There's lots of work to be done tomorrow. ;)
